Alzheimer’s Association Welcomes U.S. FDA Approval of Kisunla (Donanemab)
“This is real progress. Today’s approval allows people more options and greater opportunity to have more time,” said Joanne Pike, DrPH, Alzheimer’s Association president and CEO. “Having multiple treatment options is the kind of advancement we’ve all been waiting for — all of us who have been touched, even blindsided, by this difficult and devastating disease.”
Lilly's Kisunla™ (donanemab-azbt) Approved by the FDA for the Treatment of Early Symptomatic Alzheimer's Disease
“Kisunla demonstrated very meaningful results for people with early symptomatic Alzheimer’s disease, who urgently need effective treatment options. We know these medicines have the greatest potential benefit when people are treated earlier in their disease, and we are working hard in partnership with others to improve detection and diagnosis,” said Anne White, executive vice president and president of Lilly Neuroscience, Eli Lilly and Company. “Our deepest thanks to the patients and their loved ones for participating in our clinical programs and to Lilly scientists and collaborators persevering over decades of research. Each year, more and more people are at risk for this disease, and we are determined to make life better for them.”
We recently participated in Mediaplanet’s Fighting Alzheimer’s campaign where we united with like-minded industry leaders to raise awareness about the need for increased funding for research, how to better the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s and how to assist their families and caregivers. The campaign was distributed through USA TODAY on November 28th 2016 and is published online. For the full campaign, visit: futureofpersonalhealth.com.
Dr. Brody has been nominated for 2016’s ACRP Principal Investigator Award. Selected by a committee of his peers in this category, this award recognizes professional achievements in the clinical research field. Stay tuned!
Global Alzheimer’s Platform Foundation and Brain Health Registry Partner to Speed Alzheimer’s Treatment by 2025
Global Alzheimer’s Platform (GAP) Foundation today announced a partnership with the innovative Internet-based Brain Health Registry (BHR) to grow BHR’s global registry of potential Alzheimer’s clinical trial candidates and help speed a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease by 2025. Through the partnership, GAP aims to add tens of thousands of new registry members by the third quarter of 2016 in an effort to learn how best to use new technology to grow enrollment in clinical trials, a critical pacing element in the fight against Alzheimer’s. GAP recruitment efforts will engage major research institutions across the country, beginning with Harvard Medical School (Boston), Brown Medical School (Providence), Cleveland Clinic’s Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health (Las Vegas), Emory University (Atlanta) and Brain Matters Research (South Florida).
