The Shocking Statistics

Just the facts

Alzheimer’s is a progressive, fatal, degenerative disease of the brain. On average, from the time from diagnosis to the time of death, is 8 to 10 years. 40% of patients spend most of their time in the moderate to severe category of the disease, which is not only debilitating, but a tragedy for both the patient and the family.

Alzheimer’s disease is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States and is the only top 10 cause of death in America that CANNOT CURRENTLY BE PREVENTED, CURED or SLOWED.

Almost two thirds of American’s with Alzheimer’s are WOMEN.

1 in 8 patients over the age of 65 will develop Alzheimer’s disease.

The latest census in year 2020 for the State of Florida estimated 580,000 current cases of Alzheimer’s type dementia, and conservatively, approximately 80,000 to 120,000 not diagnosed. By 2025, it is estimated that there will be 720,000 cases in the State of Florida.

The statistics are staggering when you consider that 40-50% of people at age 85 have Alzheimer’s. Even more staggering is that up to 40-50% of caregivers die before the patient from the extreme stress of being a caregiver for this devastating disease.

Due to the demographics in the State of Florida, it is designated as “ground zero.”
